ABOUT THE IAD FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION

Our Vision.

The IAD Foundation for Education is recognized as the leading promoter of career opportunities in the automobile and truck sales and service industry in Iowa.

Our Mission.

We invest in the future of the motor vehicle sales and service industry by awarding automotive scholarships.  We also develop programs and incentives with high schools, colleges, educational agencies, and the public to encourage automotive careers.

Our Reason for Being.

Are there any dealers in Iowa who arent looking for high quality technicians and other employees?  It seems that we all have trouble filling the job openings at our dealerships.  In fact, the situation wont get any better unless we do something to help more young people get into our industry.

Thats why we have the Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education.

We extend our special gratitude to the Founders Club - those 25 dealers and associated businesses that pledged $10,000 and up to be the driving force in getting the Foundation started.

In our brief history, we have made quite a bit of progress.

More than 200 dealers and businesses have contributed to the Foundation.  Thanks to their generosity, we have awarded $115,000 in scholarships to men and women pursuing a career in the automotive industry.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

We award scholarships every spring.  The 2007 applications will be available in electronic format in January 2007..  Applicants must be committed to pursuing automotive-related studies at a two or four-year post-secondary institution, and must demonstrate satisfactory performance in those studies.

SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

The young adults who have been awarded the 95 scholarships come from all over Iowa -- from Keokuk to Sioux City, from Algona to Mt. Ayr, and from Dubuque to Storm Lake to name a few.  Most students attend two-year colleges such as NIACC in Mason City, DMACC in Ankeny, or Indian Hills in Ottumwa.  Many of our scholarship winners study to become automotive technicians, while some students have studied collision repair, and others have pursued diesel training.

We have four endowed scholarships:

Our endowed scholarships are preferably given to a student with an interest in pursuing a career in the automotive or a related field.  Other requirements are indicated below:

The Pat and Carol Clemons Scholarship is awarded to a resident of one of the following counties:  Boone, Greene, Marshall or Story.

The Stan and Marleen Moffitt Scholarship is awarded, in part, on financial need.

The Lou and Marianne Walsh Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of one of the following schools:  Carroll Community, Kuemper Catholic School, Glidden Community School, Manning Community School or Coon Rapids Community School.

The George White Memorial Scholarship is awarded in honor of the late George White of Ames.  In 1995 George led a group of dealers to establish the IAD Foundation.  George encouraged dealers to be more charitable and to give back to the industry and their communities.  This scholarship is funded by money donated by IADA Services, Inc. to honor George Whites drive to establish this Foundation.

HOW TO INVEST IN THE FOUNDATION

Your investment will help guarantee a continuing supply of high-quality students pursuing automotive technologies.  Be assured that all investments will go straight toward scholarships -- not administrative expenses.  In fact, since its inception, the Foundations administrative expenses have averaged about 1% of asset totals per year.  Dealers who serve on the Foundations Board of Directors govern the finances of the Foundation and a respected investment management firm professionally manages the Foundations assets.

The IAD Foundation for Education is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  All contributions are tax-deductible.  Please consult with your tax advisor for more details.

We have several options for those wanting to donate to the Foundation.  Corporate or personal checks, appreciated stock, payment plans, and estate planning.  Here are some easy alternatives:

Dues Donation.  Make a voluntary contribution of $100 or more on your yearly IADA dues statement.
Cash Donation.  Gifts can be through one-time contributions, or pledged over several years.  We accept corporate or personal checks in any amount.
IADA Golf Outing.  One of our most noteworthy events is the annual  IADA Golf Outing.  Proceeds from the sale of mulligans and skills contests go toward the scholarship fund.
Gifts of Appreciated Stock Our brochure Gifts of Appreciated Stock shows how a gift of $10,000 in appreciated stock could have a net after-tax cost of only $3,144!
Estate Planning.  Mention the IAD Foundation for Education in your estate plans.  Our brochure on Planned Giving has tips on how to do just that.
